Pemba Island

The main attraction in Pemba is the surrounding coral reefs and the islands are becoming famous for the spectacular sun and sea adventure scuba diving and snorkeling.

For much of its history,  Pemba has been overshadowed by Zanzibar Island, its larger and more politically powerful neighbour to the south.

Although the two islands are only separated by about 50km of water, relatively few tourists make their way across the channel to Pemba, but those who do are seldom disappointed.  However as the island is so remote it is important to realize that facilities( hotels, roads, transport etc) on Pemba are not as developed as they are in Zanzibar. Its not that there are no historic sites to visit, or a lack of good beaches, because there are plenty of these and the island.

Fundu Lagoon Beach Resort

Fundu Lagoon is a new resort in the Indian Ocean and is spread over 18 acres on the west coast of the island of Pemba, north of the Zanzibar mainland.Nestled into the secluded, undiscovered coastline of the Wambaa Peninsular and the location boasts 4.5 kilometers of white, sandy beach.  The resort comprises 20 bungalows, two bars and a restaurant with modern-eco feel, specifically designed and handicrafted to blend with the natural environment of this fertile isle.

They offer luxury accommodation either directly on the beach or high on the ridge of the peninsular, all with superb sweeping views of the bay.  Each room has a private balcony and en-suite bathroom and the furnishings are stylishly simple throughout and made from natural, local materials.  They provide what we feel is the ideal environment for a relaxing break, or a sun drenched honeymoon on the beach.

Now listed as one of the top diving locations in the World, they also cater for the more energetic holiday-maker with a fully-equipped PADI diving Center and a wide range of water-sports including snorkeling, sailing, fishing, water-skiing and kayaking.

What Clients are Saying

Mr. Gitahi was extremely happy and he told me they enjoyed themselves completely. Thanks for making it happen and we also look forward to the same hopefully.
